Different night out
I was visiting my friend at a neighboring university, she is 19 and I am 20, and I was very intent on going to a NYC gay club (that was 18+). I researched very hard online and through grindr and I kept coming up short. Escuelita seemed to be my only option. However everyone kept calling the club trashy, gross, etc. this was discouraging. My friend and I said f*** it and went anyways. We showed up at 11:15 with the text message for the free-before-12 admission into the club. It should be noted that she and I were the only two white people in the line, as the crowd is definitely black and Latino. The line moved at an extremely slow place and we didn't make it to the door until 12:15 , at which point we were charged a $20 cover. Inside there were some hot go go dancers and most of the music playing was hip-hop. The main event was a porn star "phat daddy" who was over-hyped and (for us) not very pleasing on the eyes. The club itself was not trashy AT ALL. The bathroom remained clean throughout the night as each had an attendant who worked for tips, and we had numerous people come up and talk to us. Of the many gay clubs I have been to, I would say this one is one of the friendlier. When we left, the music and the announcer was starting to get a little too loud, however the dj was very good (for the genre) throughout the night.
Worst Place in New York City
We went on Saturday night, we got there at 11:20, 20 people in line, it was free until 12 am...we could get in at 12:05....it was supposed to be $10 after 12am so we decided to pay for that, but no it was $20, we bad attitude and so rude, they didn't even try to explain why...stupid us we decided to get in anyways...at the door it said open bar until 12:30...of course it wasn't, the bartender said it was until 12:00. You cannot drink in the dance floor..this place sucks. Please don't go! Don't even try! There are plenty of great places in New York to enjoy and be treated like a person....
