Eclectic American with hint of Thai
If you ask (for kitsch), you shall receive (kitsch). Killer American Thai cuisine meets over the top displays of your favorite collectable dolls (Britney, Donnie & Marie, Sonny & Cher) in this Hells Kitchen favorite with a kick of just the right spice. The bartenders are adorable and know how to make so much more than a mojito.

      pad thai
Pad thai was great as was the blueberry rhubarb pie with vanilla ice cream; as if the food wasn't good enough there was some nice eye candy

Fun Fun Fun take on a diner
The first time a friend brought me to Vynl, his comment was "You have to go to the bathroom." I thought he was nuts...then I got it. The food is consistently good, as are the drinks. It's a fun, little bit funky, environment that is comfortable and reasonably priced.

      Errors in menu
I love this place!!! Great decor And super nice people. HOWEVER, menu items marked as vegetarian, such as the Pad Tai, are NOT vegetarian (fish sauce etc.). I asked them to change their menus many times -- alas no luck. They will accommodate you and make the dishes vegetarian or even vegan! But you would need to know to ask for it. Favorite vegan Pad Tai ib the city!!!

Fun, good, affordable, in the middle of it all
Can you ask for more? Standard American fare, with an extra touch of sophistication but no extra $$$. Not to be missed: the Justin Timberlake/Christina Aguilera (or whatever teen stars they were) bathrooms.

The perfect place to take visitors
I find Vynl to be the perfect place to take people when they're in town and on a budget. The food is usually very good and the fun, retro atmosphere is unlike any restaurant most people experience outside of NYC. I've always had good service here. The thai selections, latin scramble, and meatloaf are really great as are the cocktails, though the drinks are a tad overpriced.

A step above the typical "gay diner"
Every gayborhood has these spots. Diner food where you can fill your belly before you start drinking for the night. Everyone has a bit of a different feel, but this seems to be a necessity in gay areas for some reason or another. Vynl is a step up from a lot of those with drinks, and over the top decor, and some unique food options, like the shrimp with taquitos and sweet potatoe puree I had when I was there.

      Fun, Trendy "Diner"
Really fun for an evening meal.. Food is always REALLY good. They've been slammed for their service in the past, but I think they've really worked on it. I've gotten very attentive service the last few times I've been there. Always a very good looking crowd.

      SO Disappointed...
Vynl used to be my favorite restaurant in the city. When they closed recently for a refresh, I thought all that would change was the decor. While the decor has been updated a little, what really changed was the menu- FOR THE WORSE. Gone are all the items my friends and I used to rave about, (the stir-fry, the butternut soup, even the grilled cheese!) and instead they've cut the menu in half and added some strange new items. (Why would I go to Vynl for schnitzel and spatzle when I can get them at the German place 2 doors down for half the price?) The service, which used to be great, was slow, even though the place was just about empty. All the things that used to make Vynl great (low prices, great menu variety, relaxed atmosphere, great service) are gone.

there's one in chelsea that's just as lame. everyone's pretentious there. from the waiters to the b*tchy bartenders who can't make a good margarita to save their life. the food's fine but the staff makes everything taste sour. skip it and save $50.

Pretty crowd, Ok food, inattentive service
This is probably the gayest spot in Hell's Kitchen. Was there on a Friday night and it was packed with boys on their way out to the local bars. The food was just ok, but I think you come here more for the energy than the food. Our waiter was more interested in hanging with friends that night, so we had to chase other waiters for whatever we needed. A highlight: The fun bathrooms are all themed (Dolly, Cher, Nelly) and decorated to match with the artist's music playing.
