This neighborhood hangout was all the rage in the late 90s. It cooled down a bit since then but still brings in the NYU boys and girls. The jukebox always has good music playing and the atmosphere is true East Village.

I used to LOVE Boiler Room. It was one of the first bars (gay or otherwise) I had ever set foot in. This is when Nana and the gang worked there. I moved to London, and when I returned, I went for my birthday. I was legitimately excited. I had the worst experience I have ever had in the East Village. There was a bartender with grey hair and a terrible attitude that made the experience less than desirable. I will never, EVER, go back. There are too many better options.
Skip it Unless You're a Local.
I was here on 5/22/16 at 1:00am. The Boiler Room consists of a bar along one wall with several tables in the floor space, a small lounge area in one recessed corner by the bathrooms (ick), and a pool table (unused at the time.) I paid $8.50 for a Bacardi and Coke. Pros: rainbow flags hanging from the ceiling, and exposed brick walls. Cons: a mixed crowd of locals who kept to themselves. I will not be back.
Cheapest drinks as gay bars in NYC go .. 3.75 for mixed drinks and cheap beers .. Pretty fun and always here but i wish they would have a DJ instead of a juke box. A big ++ is they always skip lady gaga whenever someone tries to play her !
Typical E Village
It is small, cramped, and it screams East Village. If that is what you like, you're in the right place!
Best Drink Specials and Hot Boys
We love Boiler Room! We are always there sipping on 3.50 cocktails, listening to some good retro inspired beats, all while flirting with the cute hipsters/scenesters that decorate the historic bar. We always meet cute boys!
