I discovered Chelsea Pines Inn several years ago - and since then it's become my "home away from home" in New York. From the wonderfully decorated rooms (with posters of old movies), to the amazingly generous breakfast (including daily loaves of incredible tea-bread made by the owner), to the garden patio in back - this place is a total success. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, summer or winter - the staff is VERY helpful and friendly... there's a business-room with computers and printer, so I don't have to drag my laptop to New York if I'm only going for a short visit... the location is fantastic (right above the West Village, and at the edge of Chelsea, with the 8th Avenue subway right up the block)... The Chelsea Pines even puts out its own daily "newspaper", with upcoming activities in the neighborhood, and suggestions for touristing and shopping (including the spectacular High Line Park, which is only a block and a half away). I used to live in New York - and love going back there. And now the Chelsea Pines Inn is one of the things I look forward to most, when I do go back.
