Robert Penn's video reel "Art AIDS America Black Gay Men NYC Addendum 2016" will be included in the touring exhibit at The Bronx Museum of the Arts beginning July 13, 2016.
The 12 minute 49 second reel contains two short works: First, a 79-second silent video projection design for the theatrical revival of PoMo Afro Homos' Fierce Love recalls intense, culturally diverse activism in the early days of the epidemic; and Second, the 11 minute 30 second documentary remembers black LBGT writer-activists who spontaneously established Other Countries Black Gay Expression in 1986 because AIDS had already devastated the community of black and brown men who love men though most media only presented the white gay male as the face of AIDS.
