The Queer Detainee Empowerment Project will be hosting our second annual #QueeringImmigration Conference this summer! ***The #qi2 committee will choose proposals on the evening of July 17th-- get yours in today!**** Submit a proposal here: http://www.qdep.org/qi2-conference-2015-2/ The conference will be in New York and will return to the the New School on August 28th- 30th! #qi2: Queering Immigration Conference is the largest gathering of LGBTQI immigrants/previously detained/asylum seekers, organizers, service providers, legal workers, healthcare providers, community healers, and more in the world. The conference topics range from asylee/asylum seeker issues, Know Your Rights trainings, the policing of our communities, Detention/Prison Divestment, HIV/AIDS, detention systems, solitary confinement, Transwomen Empowerment, how to organize systems of resistance, messaging, social media, life- post detention, refugees, alternative- to- detention building, program development, funding strategies/ workshops, skill shares, legal, and healing. QDEP encourages all folks that are TLGBQI immigrants, folks that work TLGBQI immigrants, folks that work with immigrants, TLGBQI allies of TLGBQI immigrants, prison and detention abolitionists, divestment activists radicals, and/or general allies to attend and/ or facilitate a workshop! Registration rates are tiered and include food for the weekend. If you can pay more, we encourage you to do so-- the additional funding provides assistances for asylees/detainees/undocumented folks to attend to conference.
