Color Me Queer 2015

The biggest dance party for queer people of color during Pride!! And this is our 20th year anniversary!! Sunday, June 28, 2015 6pm after the Pride march through midnight THE DELANCEY Rooftop Garden and Main Floor* 168 Delancey Street on the Lower East Side bollywood, chaabi, redh, pop, hip hop, breakbeats, ballroom, dancehall, reggae, soca, bandari, chutney and more by Nolita Selector, DJ dynAMITe, Bashar Makhay, DJ Haram & precolumbian. More on our DJs below: $15 suggested donation (no one will be turned away for lack of funds) Happy Hour drink specials from 6pm-8pm Food menu available 21+ only (please bring ID), and ALL genders are welcome! Proceeds support four QPOC grassroots organizations: - GAPIMNY (Gay Asian Pacific Islander Men of NY) - Q-WAVE (for queer women and trans folks of API descent) - SALGA-NYC (for the South Asian LGBTQ community) - Tarab NYC (Queer, Middle Eastern, North African and Fabulous) *Please note that the Rooftop Garden is accessible by stairs only. She blends diasporic and pop favorites with club, ballroom, house and a lot of Caribbean flavor. DJ DynAMITe @dynamite_ny DJ Dynamite is a NYC based Bollywood, EDM and Top 40 DJ. He is the co-founder of YUVA Bollywood Party and a resident DJ for SALGA NYC parties. Bashar Makhay @makhay Bashar, founder of Tarab NYC is a Chaldean-Iraqi DJ based in Brooklyn, NY with Detroit roots. His music is Pan-Middle Eastern and North African including Masri, Shami, Rai, Bandari, Iraqi-Redh, Kurdish, & Turkish beats. DJ Haram @djharam DJ Haram is Zubeyda Muzeyyen, a queer musician, promoter, and neighborhood şeytan currently based in Philadelphia. As a DJ she is all breakbeats and heartbreaks, playing rhythms that shout out her Middle Eastern roots and ungrateful 2nd generation upbringing in Jersey #973. Precolumbian @precolumbiandj Precolumbian is a Philadelphia-based genderqueer dj, musician, and media activist. Weaving together her Latina/Andina and Queer/Trans ancestries, her work operates as a medium for empowerment, decolonization, and community building. She has been transforming dance floors from Brooklyn to Mexico City, sharing the stage with Big Freedia, Kid Sister, Niña Dioz, A Tribe Called Red, Le1f, Cakes Da Killa and more.
