Chelsea's gay sauna
Located in the heart of Chelsea, New York City's West Side Club is where you come to see some of the hottest men in town. You can unwind from the excitement of the city by relaxing in one of the lounges, taking a shower, or cruising the halls for men on the prowl. Although men of all types come here, it's mostly a place for fit men and studs who take their sex as seriously as their gym membership clubs. It's a clean and fun place to play in New York City - definitely worth the visit.

Staff is rude and they really don't care about welcoming you. we came by 1st time on Tuesday 11pm. the place is very old and dirty. Is not a Sauna there isn't steam or sauna only 1 shower room and that's it. If is your 1st time, the price is $35 for the worst experience and boring place with maybe 20 people inside. DONT COME EVER

      To warm up first better
Good place in neat and management, but less fun without dark rooms or sauna rooms dry or wet to warm up you and others who drove into hot for personal actions in the prepaid rooms.

Went there on a Saturday night. There was a good mixed crowd of all sorts. There was plenty of action to be had around 1 or 2 in the morning. A few things however: The staff was very nice and professional. I don't know what happened with the reviewers who had bad experiences with the staff, but my experience with them was quite pleasant. There are no large open play rooms. Just a bunch of single rooms. No stages, glory holes, sauna etc. So be prepared for that. Also, after the bars close around 4, the place gets busy but it seems there is less action. Lots of S

      Not that good
Went here a few times and found it to be very unpleasant. The staff was extremely rude and the twinks there were very nasty and aggressive. They also come with lots of their friends and they roam the halls harrassing guys who don't want them. It kills the mood and I watched several people leave because of it. Save your money.

      Awful staff, mediocre crowd
The good: The club was moderately occupied on a mid-week night. The crowd was mixed in terms of ages, body types, etc. On a scale of 1-10 (of looks) it was somewhere around 5-6, which is actually pretty good for a bathhouse. The bad: The gangbanger behind the check-in counter was one of the most vile and rude creatures i've ever encountered in my life. He was argumentative and nasty, and exactly NOT what customers want to encounter.

The only good thing I liked is that the place is big and has many rooms. Came to visit the place for the first time and was disappointed. No steam room. No sauna. There are only 4 showers working. I arrived around 4pm on a Saturday. The crowd was older than 40. I didn't understand the attendant bc he was not pleasant at all. I didn't know where to go or how things ran. He didn't explained that I was getting a safe, a key for the safe which they will kept. When I told him "I wanted a room" he responded "you already got one" wth. Didn't understand the "procedures". A guy escorted me to the room. When I asked him what did they have he told me "showers there, room here, ehmm (he paused)" Nothing else? I asked he was like nope. That's about it. Ejhhhhh ok what a waste of time. I hooked up w one guy from the 6 around.

"The West Side Club" deserves no stars.
I don't know about others, but to me, the place was horrible. The staff was rude, everyone practiced unsafe sex, it seemed sleazy, and I believe I witnessed drug usage. I went for the experience, amicably, not looking for sex, and it was terrible. I wouldn't recommend patronizing.

East Side West Side Both Equal Waste Of $$
Again, $40 to get into this place. It is NOT a bathhouse even though when you call them they like to use that term. It is nothing more than a sex club and like it's twin... not a very good one. Just a bunch of rooms and hallways to walk. The owners of these two clubs really need to visit a real bathhouse. Save your money and take a trip on the Amtrak to Montreal. It is so sad that NYC has so much gay population and they don't have a real bathhouse. This place is not clean and so not worth the money spent.

Went there on school night to kill time after bar before my flight, spent all night but couldn't find a single guy to hook up with. Crowd was very thin and not friendly, the entire facility was just bunch of rooms and nothing really else. Staircase to something on the floor below was closed with police tape, so ill never know what was there... They DON'T accept credit cards, cash only. Come on now, 21st century in New York and cash only? I might try some other club instead next time I'm in town

      Just there 11-10-12
This place is a lot better than some other reviews. You have to be reasonably fit, it is a private club. For other "places" I've seen, this place is very very clean, private, if not a member costs 40 bucks, well worth it on a weekend night. 4 hour increments. Lots of trafffic. Good traffic. Their phone is just an ans machine and emails are returned, but they are there. 2nd floor

    • What it can be, it was, and may be again.
True the attendants can be rude, but where in New York is anyone terribly friendly. True the other customers can be rude, but refer to the above comment. Here's the thing..... in my years on again off again with this establishment there are three things that have always been the same. The staff have attitude towards patrons, as if the customers are somehow beneath them for being there. (which begs the question why are they working there) There is a contingent of people who go with friends and go mostly to socialize, gossip loudly and discuss others. And the third thing that has always remained true, no matter what the others are doing, if I go in the right frame of mind, to simply have fun, I do. So the first two things don't matter if I go when I am happy, and generally no irritable. Its not well maintained, people are abusive and service people are rude. THATS NEW YORK. Would it be amazing if it were not so? Yes. If you would like to meet a bunch of guys who are much friendlier go to east side club, the men tend to be older, but let me tell you, they are more than happy to enter your room, and have years of experience. On the other hand, if your looking for pretty boys, rightly or wrongly, the attitude is going to be there. And finally, if the Club staff ever read these reviews. Perhaps they could reflect on whether it is correct or proper to look over the top of booths at patrons and engage in other rude behavior, which ultimately will lead to these last two bath houses being shuttered and the loss of jobs. We need to remember, the club didn't shut down the steam room or the video lounge or public areas to hurt their own business, they did so to meet increasingly conservative values and critical views from local government and even the gay community itself. So really the best promotional tool and self preserving thing that the bath houses in new york can do, which are owned and managed by the same company, is to promote a happy loyal following of happy customers who feel strongly enough about the value of these clubs to publicly speak up for their necessity or position within the community. If everyone walks away unhappy, or at very least not thinking of what is a private club, as their club, then they are not going to really care what happens in the future. So, i hope that the club will see the importance of treating customers with some sense of hospitality, and friendliness, and that investing and maintaining what is left is important. Keeping the showers clean, the closed steam room has looked the same for years....rip it out. Replace the stalls that are broken, clean the rooms adequately every day. Have a comment card at least for customers who need to vent. And patrons, remember, a good time is in your mind, so don't let a lack of facilities, or the fact that the others don't meet your standards.....maybe they do and you aren't looking deep enough, and maybe there is more to a place than meets the eye. I don't go much anymore, but I wish Westside Club the best of luck in dealing with city government, increasingly conservative views, and creating a sex positive space which is crucial to all gay communities. Because of the happy memories I have, and because I believe that they staff just need to be reminded sometimes (they deal with alot of aggravation) that the customers are the reason they are there, and not a hindrance but a virtue, I am going to give the west side club three stars. One for the hope that it can improve, one for the amenities and decor, and one for the great times I've had, which have nothing to do with staff or facillities, and everything to do with having a place to do them. Thanks west side club.
