The Cock Formerly: The Hole

(397 Ratings)
Long-standing hole-in-the-wall gay bar

The Cock is one of the few remaining cruising spaces in New York City. It offers a two-level interior with a dark room in the basement. The venue is known for its backroom scene, while the main room hosts themed parties, go-go dancers, and DJs, all under a discreet neon rooster sign.

Had A GREAT Time!

This is a response to the review by Queen Elizabeth who was offended by the "prostitutes" at this bar.  Hey, Mr. Gorgeous-and-successful, didn't you notice that this place is called "The Cock"?  Even if you didn't bother to read any reviews, that should have been a dead giveaway that this is a dive bar.  You're planning to call the BBB??  Lol, do you think they might lose a membership or something?  If you want a luncheon at the Waldorf, I suggest you go there instead. - For those of you who are more realistic, if you can appreciate a place that's a little more sleazy, then GO.  We went on a weekend in March.  The dancers came out after midnight, and they really inspired the crowd.  Within an hour, things started to heat up.  Shortly thereafter, it was almost "anything goes," and a good time was had by all.  Oh, and if there were any hookers in the vicinity, I never saw any evidence of it.  Maybe they were too busy hunting for for guys who were more succesful and good looking.

Prostitutes..... :(

was in New York for business and went to the cock because of the reviews on this site..... However I am a very successful 31 yo man and I kinda thought it would be fun but when a 40 yo hooker wants a 31yo man to pay them for companionship I get sick to my stomach..... and that was the 2nd staff member at the bar... First the Bartender then the coat check guy.... I am a good looking Puerto Rican male and I felt offended to be asked to give a 40yo money to be with me... I will never go to this place and I will be filing a formal complaint with better business and have this place shut down...

Holy Freakin' WOW

It is a very rare to find anyone or anything that perfectly know what it is, and does it perfectly. The Cock is a dive. It knows it is a dive, and has made itself into the perfect dive! This bar is a must visit for anyone visiting NYC. It is dark, dirty, and not for those who care about things like image, social propriety, or class. But if you want to go some place where all bets are off and all rules are negotiable, the drinks are strong (especially from the hottie downstairs!) and the boys are of questionable moral material, this bar is for you!
