Camp Bow Wow Long Island City (Closed Permanently)

(7 Ratings)
Doggy Daycare
Previously Stephen Neagus owned and operated a successful dog walking/pet sitting business in Queens. After 6 years he decided that he wanted to expand his doggy horizons to include a kind of place that all our pups would be pulling us to get to.

My dog was attacked at Camp Bow Wow LIC

Be careful! This place is all about making money, no real care or love for animals! After almost a year of daycare at Camp Bow Wow LIC I decided to take a long vacation and leave my dog boarding with them. When I returned my dog had a serious allergy on his belly, his skin was inflamated and nearlly bleeding, no one at the camp seemed to have noticed or cared to address the case. I took it to the vet and the vet said my dog had an allergy to the product they use to clean their place. After 5 weeks treating with antibiotics the dog has recovered. I went back to leave the dog for daycare, I explained what happened and they said they use strong hospital chemicals on their floor and that they would write a note on my file to no longer use it on my dog's cabin next time. So I left the dog there for day care and 2 hrs later I get a call from my vet that my dog was attacked by another dog inside the Campbowwow LIC , and was taken there with open injuries on 2 legs and that it needed to have anesthesia and several stitches.... I called the camp and they said they were NOT liable for this, that my dog was NOT A VICTIM since he was the one who started humping the other dog!!! What???? The owner Steve Neagus wouldn't even listen to me over the phone... trying to interrupt while I tried to tell him about my previous experiences on that place... If you love your dog DO NOT TAKE IT TO CAMP BOW WOW LIC! My dog is now under care on a local VET. The owner of the other dog offered to pay what made me wonder... They do take aggressive dogs on camp and risk the life of our dogs...The INTERVIEW process is nothing but BS. Any dog will be allowed in regardless of them being aggressive or not, as long as you can pay their rates. My dog doesn't know how to bite, so the dog who attacked him is probably still playing in their camp putting all of your dogs in risk of being attacked. Say NO to camp bow wow!

Great Staff and Great Time For Our Dogs!

I was quite anxious to leave our 2 whippets alone for the first time for 4 days and was put at ease by the care Maria and the rest of the staff provided. We loved being able to watch them playing on the iPhone app and on the web while we were away! Most times we checked the cam there was someone interacting with the dogs which was comforting. When we picked them up they were happy and well adjusted. Just a great place if your pet can get along with other dogs! Keep up the great work guys! We'll see you next time!

Don't take your dog here!!

I am a huge fan of Camp Bow Wows. My dog has been to 4 locations in the Northeast. Most of them are fabulous!! I definitely recommend other Camp Bow Wows, but not this one. The staff is rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. They didn't seem to care about my dog one bit. They were 10 minutes late to open and I was in a hurry to get to work. I was waiting at their front door. The guy came up and didn't say two words to me. Asked me nothing about my dog, didn't even say hi to my dog. My dog came home with a bloodied finger nail which they didn't tell me about. Also, they never packed his bowls. When I asked them to send them to me because I live an hour from the location, they told me they would have to charge my credit card to send the bowls (AFTER THEY FORGOT TO PACK THEM). They are rude, uncaring and have no customer service skills. If you can find another Bow Wow location, go there, or go anywhere else, but this place!!!!!
