Jean-Georges Vongerichten was born and raised in Alscce, France and brings the taste of France to New York with this exquisite restaurant. The 3-course fixed menu ($95) is a delicious introduction to his cuisine, while the 7-course ($128) is well worth the splurge.

Special Occasions....or Lunch

This is one of my favorite high-end restaurants in the city. There's nothing particularly gay about it, even though my partner and I celebrated our 5th anniversary here a few years ago. We didn't feel out of place, even though the crowd can be a little stuffy. Food and service are impeccable. Go for the tasting menu with wine pairings for dinner and it will be a really special night. OR -- go for lunch, where they have a fantastic deal -- essentially $15 per plate of many of the same dishes on the full dinner menu.
