Spirit in the Works

Opening: January 19, 6-8pm Exhibition: January 20-21, 12-6pm The group show exhibits multimedia art, paintings, and photographic fantasies of men in gender-inquisitive postures. Tom Acevedo breaks through the picture plane with acrylic portraiture and involves the viewer with figurative story telling. Steve Glicken displays friends and family in highly stylized settings. Rafael Santiago examines self-definition and personal values. Naruki Kukita creates oil studies of men with anime characters in classical and fantasy poses. Terry Furry imagines archetypal male characters from Greek and modern myths in idealized backdrops. And Bobby Busnach presents “Heavy Metal” - stark B&W photos on aluminum playing on beefcake/cheesecake style. These sharp-edged artists challenge any rigid notion of self-concept.
