The Monster

(1779 Ratings)
A West Village institution

Walk in at street level to the piano bar/lounge which retains its historic charm. Don't let the vintage decor discourage you, pull up a stool and the friendly crowd and fun singers will have you hooked. For a change of pace, work your way downstairs to find drag shows and a dance floor.

LOVE IT!

I absolutely love this place. I could spend every happy hour here, the crowd is so friendly, and the bartenders are spectacular!

great place for hot men !

I come here often and this place is definitely a great spot for hot sexy gay guys!! and its pretty mixed from latinos, asians, blacks, and whites that vary from all ages. The only negative i have about this place is the music in the basement! i''m very used to the electronic music at the mega clubs and events in europe(websterhall, avalon, pacha, crobar) so the music is complete cheese for me ! here they play a lot of typical diva house, dance music and some tribal. Since i come here many times i notice that the dj just plays the same songs over and over again!which is honestly not legit for a dj!! so if you come here make sure its not for the music! other then that its full of hot sexy guys!!

Something for Everyone

This great bar has a cruisy main bar up front, a piano in back, and a hot dance floor on the lower level. It attracts customers of all ages and types, and occasionally gay-friendly straights. [The current joke is that the one straight-identified bartender is the most obviously gay in the place!] The piano players are ingratiating and have their own followings. Drink prices are a little steep, but they offer food during the cocktail hour. The one possible negative is the somewhat enigmatic, slovenly doormen, who seem to arbitrarily charge some customers a five dollar cover charge even when it isn't a holiday.
