Stop in and check out the landmark bar that basically started the gay rights movement. On June 28, 1969, New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn. It wasn't the first time, but this time a riot broke out on Christopher Street. The following week of protests around Stonewall sparked a movement for LGBTQ+ Americans. Cross this historic site off your travel bucket list and pay tribute to those who paved the way for LGBTQ+ rights.
We believe that LGBTQ+ people deserve safe vacations that allow them to be their authentic selves. That's why our City Guides aren't locked behind a paywall. Can you contribute today?

Cannot wait to visit again. Great fun. Hope the acid tongued drag act is still there. Her put downs are classic! Eg "shut up barbie or I will put you back in the box!"
Classic Gay Bar
You have to visit the Stonewall if you visit new york to pay hommage. We went during the day so I can't comment on the night life. There were about 6 old men at the bar. They were all REALLY friendly. The upstairs part had a few older women in it and i think it might be the "lesbian section". The bar is very typical. It had one open room downstairs, a pool table and a bar. The upstairs is much the same with a bar and seating area. Hope this helps!
Strange crowd
this is where it all started but the night we popped in it was possible not a good night to go (midweek), crowd was older not much chatting or fun, we had one and moved on, but as i said it could have been the night we where there ? but worth a visit as icon value.
I stop in now and then
Not a bad place, but a weird mix of people. Nice bartenders. Met one really nice older guy once who layed out how it looked in 1969 so I will always hold this one dear.
My favorite NY bar!
I love this bar! Great place to hang out with friends and have a drink! Prices and drinks are great! People are always friendly! Always meet some cool people!
