The Stonewall Inn

(456 Ratings)
Where it all began

Stop in and check out the landmark bar that basically started the gay rights movement. On June 28, 1969, New York City police raided the Stonewall Inn. It wasn't the first time, but this time a riot broke out on Christopher Street. The following week of protests around Stonewall sparked a movement for LGBTQ+ Americans. Cross this historic site off your travel bucket list and pay tribute to those who paved the way for LGBTQ+ rights.

Upstairs downstairs

Stonewall is always good times. My friends and I all go because Christine is one of the best bartenders in New York. Upstairs, the scene is totally different - there's more space to kick back, relax, or shake your thing.

love it

The gay boys are upstairs dancing to Madonna, the ladies are downstairs singing along to Pink, and cute boys are passing out tickets for Absolut Wild Tea. The bartenders are awesome.

great place

I went here two nights in a row one weekend and had an awesome time. It's a laid back bar downstairs and they host themed events upstairs with a 5 dollar cover. The drinks are a bit over priced but hey it's a walk in place. Avoid stonewall on mondays though unless you wanna play bingo lol.

A Classic with a History

A but old and dingy...but it's a classic and everyone should go...it's fun.

History, and not much else

Go with the buddies from your gay history class. Other than that, it's just a neighborhood bar that could be in Omaha, NE.
