It's a dive but the bartenders are the best guys ever and the doorman is super sweet.

wifi needed

Excellent bar, cheapest drinks in town! All they need is free wifi and I'll give it a 5 star

friendly

Music is loud, drinks are okay - atmosphere is laid back. Stop by if you're in the area.

best place in east village

We wondered around the east village on friday night trying to find a big dance club but like every other place we went in new york they all just seem to be neighborhood bars. I found the east village area to be a bit scarry. But the nicest place was definitely the phoenix. Small one room bar (like everywhere else) with a pool table. Friendly and good looking crowd. No dance floor.
