Apollo Theater

(12 Ratings)
The history of Amateur Night

Ella Fitzgerald made her debut at the Apollo back in 1934. The infamous amateur night introduced such stars as Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Diana Ross & The Supremes, and James Brown. Things have changed over the years, but The Apollo is still considered one of the best places in the country to catch a show.
