Christopher Park

(25 Ratings)
Across from the Stonewall Inn
Due to its location right in front of the legendary Stonewall Inn, where the gay liberation movement began, Christopher Park is embedded in LGBT history. Thirty years after the Stonewall Riots, in 1999, the park was added to the New York State Registry of Historic Places and to remember the events that occurred there, artist George Segal was commissioned to create a white sculpture of gay couples lounging in the park.
