No Blue Monday: Stories and Songs of Jerry Herman
Monday Jun 19 9:30pm-11:00pm in New York
No Blue Monday is a biographical sketch of the life and music of Broadway composer Jerry Herman. Put On Your Sunday Clothes, It's Today, I Wont Send Roses, and I Don't Want To Know are a mere taste of what you'll hear throughout the evening. How did Before the Parade Passes By make it into Hello, Dolly! during its Detroit tryouts? Just how tough was super producer David Merrick? Anecdotes and stories fill-in the gaps between the hummable tunes. With nothing more than a piano, Mason Griffin (pianist and music director) provides an intimate portrait of the man behind the music, lyrics, and Broadway classics.
