We invite you to an open town hall meeting at the LGBT Center at 208 W 13th St, New York, NY 10011 (between 7th and 8th Avenue) on Tuesday November 22, 2016 at 7:15 PM ET. We will begin organizing to collectively fight back against Trump and the many threats his presidency poses to marginalized communities in the US and around the world. We envision this as the start of a regular weekly meeting where a diverse group of people from different causes and individuals with different interests, passions and skillsets can work together to directly assist and to protect the individuals and communities whose life and liberty are in danger.
In two months Donald Trump will be President of United States. A Trump presidency poses a direct threat to a multitude of vulnerable communities and persons across the country and around the world. We have a responsibility to stand together to resist a man who campaigned — and won — on promises of hate, bigotry, racism, sexism, and xenophobia.
Our voices are being heard in the streets — we are expressing our frustration and fear on a scale never before seen following a presidential election. With so many different threats -- to communities, to the environment, to our rights and to the institutions that enshrine them -- we must assemble a diverse force to channel our anger into direct action. Whether this is your first entrance into political activism or you are a seasoned advocate, when we come together we can collaborate to meet these challenges and find ways to effect change. We must start talking about what we are going to do in the next week, the next month, the next year.
We imagine this as the start of a flat, all volunteer group united in anger and committed to direct action which will organize itself into working groups — focusing on everything from policy and data analysis to organizing protests — to ensure that we have the largest impact possible. We need people with all skills and interests. Whether you are an artist or a software developer or just somebody who wants to get involved, everybody’s contribution is valuable.
We all realize that none of us individually know every single issue that needs to be addressed. If you are interested on working on a specific issue — which will be discussed at the general meeting — please list them in the following Google Document (please check to see if it is already listed before submitting):

Please forward this email and invite anyone who is interested in fighting together against a Trump regime.
The only choice we have is whether to be silent or to fight back.
In solidarity,
