EXTENDED HOURS! 8 pm - 4 am Just added: Timmy Richardson (early set) THEO PARRISH In 1994, Theo Parrish received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from KCAI with a concentration in Sound Sculpture, a form of orchestration using live instruments, looped recordings, the human voice, and numerous other sound generation devices. While in Kansas City, Theo continued to impact and be impacted by dance music, helping to bring a dormant underground music scene to life. Theo Parrish moved to Michigan in 1994, where he became heavily involved in Detroit’s underground music scene. Since his arrival, he has helped spawn a resurgence of dance classic selections among local DJ talents. ‘Love of the music should be the driving force of any producer, performer or DJ. Everything else stems from that core, that love. With that love, sampling can become a tribute; An expansion on ideas long forgotten, reconstruction, collage. Using the same understanding openly and respectfully can turn DJing into a spiritual participation. It can turn a few hours of selection into essential history; Necessary listening through movement.’ This personal philosophy gives shape and direction to the distinctive sounds that are created by Theo Parrish. TIMMY RICHARDSON Timmy Richardson is a veteran underground DJ from NYC. He made a name for himself playing for the moving parties Wild Pitch and House Nation in the late 80s, early 90s. He along with Pernell Morrison began the Coney Island boardwalk parties back in 1997. He would go on to hold down a residency at the now defunct 2i's for 7 years. He has guested at Timmy Regisford's Shelter club as well as most clubs in NYC, and has perfomed internationally in Japan and Belgium. Just recently he had the pleasure of playing Spike Lee's Prince Born Day Purple People Party to about 2000 people in Brooklyn, NY. Timmy loves to play at Deep Space as he gets to play an eclectic groove of music. Almost all of the guest artists who play at Deep Space create truly one-of-kind, crate-digging "Deep Space sets." Deep Space has been presented abroad at the Big Chill Festival (UK), Plastic People (UK), TDK Cross Central Festival (UK), Space Lab Yellow (Japan), Café Jamaica (Japan), Precious Hall (Japan), Phase (Japan), throughout France, in Berlin, Denmark, SONAR Festival in Barcelona and across the U.S. In 2010 Deep Space received a dedicated night at Burning Man’s Disorient camp. In 2004 Deep Space was nominated for “Best Club Night” by the internationally televised “DanceStar USA” awards. In 2005 & 2006 François K. won “Best Resident DJ Award” at the Club World Awards held in Miami. Deep Space was named “Best Party 2004” in Time Out New York. Deep Space was nominated for “Best Party,” at the Club World Awards 2006 and 2007. New York Magazine featured Deep Space in the “Best of New York 2006” issue. In 2013 Do Androids Dance lauded Deep Space as one of “The 10 Best Club Nights in the US.” Francois K. was named "Best Resident DJ" by the 2015 Nightclub Awards. Also in 2015 Time Out New York listed Deep Space as "one of the top 20 parties in NYC right now." In 2005 Deep Space NYC Vol. 1, a compilation mixed by François K., was released on Wave Music’s imprint Deep Space Media to critical acclaim. FRANCOIS K. BIO François K. is revered as the co-creator of New York City’s legendary dance party Body&SOUL. He is also the creator and resident dj of Deep Space. He tours worldwide for not only his soulful house dj sets, but also for his techno and dub mixes. Over the years he performed regularly at Studio 54, Paradise Garage, The Loft, Ministry of Sound, Sound Factory Bar, Twilo, Roxy and Club Yellow in Japan, to name a few. In great demand, François has gone into the studio to produce/remix recordings by Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Jimmy Cliff, Underworld, Eurythmics, Bunny Wailer, U2, Ashford & Simpson with Maya Angelou, the Smiths, Dido, Finley Quaye, Diana Ross, Cure, Mick Jagger, Fishbone, Talvin Singh, D Train, Erasure, Yazoo, Black Uhuru, Thomas Dolby, and Jah Wobble. In 2005 François was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame. No dress code - just an open mind.
