Queer Memoir is New York’s longest running community-based LGBT storytelling series. At every event we bring together some of NYC's best known storytellers and folks who have never been on a stage in their lives. Queer Memoir is about elevating the voices of ALL our stories, especially the ones that might not be as naturally loud!
Queer Memoir started five years ago at Collect Pond, a Williamsburg underground performance venue so unknown we're pretty sure it was some guy's apartment. Our aim is high: to make sure all queer stories are heard, but our show is simple: a queer human, a story, people who listen. Despite our extremely unglamorous format Queer Memoir has hosted 75 events in six years, with more than 7,435 audience members, and 345 unique storytellers...some of them very unique. We collaborated with more than two dozen arts organizations over the years.
This month, Queer Memoir is presenting a storytelling show with the theme of BATHROOM as part of the Queerly Festival at the Kraine Theater.
This is a ticketed event since there are costs associated with being a part of the Queerly Festival and having a sweet little venue like the Kraine. We'll being put up a link to tickets later this week and will include a discount codes for a sliding scale. However, like all Queer Memoir shows we want to make this as economically accessible as possible; if you'd like to attend and don't have the cash even for the sliding scale; email queermemoir@gmail.com and we will reserve a ticket for you.
