On Friday, April 15, Members and friends of Out Professionals meet at Lincoln Center as Miami City Ballet, one of America’s leading companies, premieres a spectacular triple-bill. Experience Justin Peck’s exhilarating “Heatscape,” Liam Scarlett’s gut-wrenching “Viscera,” and George Balanchine’s glamorous “Bourree Fantasque.”
Under Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez, Miami City Ballet ranks in artistic success and national recognition right behind the Big Two: New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. According to Alastair Macaulay of The New York Times, “The dancers flood the theater with qualities of warmth and vitality that are like no other ballet company’s.”

‘Heatscape,’ by New York City Ballet Resident Choreographer Justin Peck, 27. Environment by iconic street artist Shepard Fairey; edgy contemporary score by Sufjan Stevens; 17 dancers. “Ripples with energy … witty, whirling … a vital, exhilarating delight” (Miami Herald).
’Viscera,’ by Royal Ballet Choreographer Liam Scarlett, 29. Set to the hard-driving Piano Concerto No. 1 by acclaimed American composer Lowell Liebermann; 16 dancers. “Power and purpose … unforced high energy … a fierce, complex symmetry” (New York Times).
‘Bourree Fantasque,’ by Russian choreographic legend George Balanchine. Delectable music, Emmanuel Chabrier; 42 dancers. Shown here for the first time in 20 years, this chic and witty work is “A celebration of French joie de vivre" (New York Times) and “The perfect finale to the bill” (Los Angeles Times).
