Ever thought of selling your soul to the Black Man at the Crossroads, or least finding out whatever happened to your mojo?
Heard of tricks being laid and folks getting crossed up, but ever wondered what all of that juju was about?
Join Khi Armand for a talk on the tradition of practical folk magic popularly known as Hoodoo, Rootwork, and Conjure. Grounded in the spiritual and sorcerous practices of Black Americans living throughout the American South and interweaving American Indian herbalism, European folk and grimoire practices, Kabbalistic and Eastern magic throughout its lore, hoodoo is perhaps as popular today as it was in the early 20th century.
Through lecture, music, and video, Khi will discuss the history, materia magica, and technology of hoodoo, share remedies for a variety of conditions, discuss hoodoo's impact on popular culture, and tell tales from his practice as a contemporary urban hoodoo root doctor.
A brief Q&A will follow the talk.
