We'd like to welcome EVERYONE in the community who is negatively affected by high rents, low wages, police harassment and brutality to this inaugural people's assembly where we will share food and community as we search out and build a new movement for justice and power.
Occupy Bed Stuy will be led by and in the interests of the people who not only live in Bed Stuy but all over Brooklyn and the rest of the city who unite around the question of community power, and a dignified quality of life for those that aren't wealthy materially but very rich in character and the values that shaped and built a now vanishing Bed-ford Stuyvesant.
This assembly follows the 4 Year Anniversary of Occupy Wall Street the previous day.
During this assembly we will provide information about various located within our own community from Black and Community based businesses to the FREE STORE (Clothes and other essential items, to Soup Kitchens, Food Pantries, Legal Services, Housing Advocates and Resources, Cultural/Educational/Empowerment Groups and Organizations and Human Services.
We will also work together on strategies to ultimately bring about the community control of every aspect of Bed Stuy.
