We welcome you to the Inaugural Herbal Imaginarium, NYC’s Plant Medicine Conference, where the heights of imaginative art meet the rooted depths of plant medicine in a daylong series of workshops, talks, a screening and theatrical performance, plant walks, healing services, meditations, music, vending and a number of surprises.
This is NYC’s flagship herbalism conference, and as such, it stands alone at the edge of a city so much in need of the kind of education we aim to make available. We hope to create a hearth around which the Herbal Community, young and old, can gather and celebrate the love of plants, medicine and each other.
We’ve curated classes for both beginner and advanced herbalists, and there will be lots of vendors and local organizations and herbal schools to learn about as well. As the day goes on the activities become less cerebral, more meditative, musical and theatrical, finishing off with the production of “The Herbalist of Oz” a play written by the creator of The Herbal Imaginarium, Jeff Bausemer, detailing the travails of a young man named Dorotheo and his journey to find the herbalist who lives in the Emerald City so he can be cured of what ails him and escape the clutches of the wicked witch of the East Village with his friends the Tin Man, The Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow, who all have medical woes of their own. Get ready to take directions from green witches and follow the yarrow brick road in a play starring some of your favorite local herbalists in this off-Broadway tale as old as thyme.
If you would like to table or offer short healing services or herbal consultations for free or by donation, please email us at info@herbalimaginarium.com to submit a request.
Tickets are offered on a sliding scale from $20-$60, and anyone with serious financial difficulty who would still like to attend can email the organizer at info@herbalimaginarium.com. We are also offering a couple work/trade options, so please email if you are interested in participating in that way, or simply interested in volunteering outright, either for this event or for future events. And please remember to invite and share this event page and the main Herbal Imaginarium page with your friends - this is what really makes it easier for us to grow amongst the concrete pavement cracks of this fine city.
