Sarah Kate Ellis currently holds the title CEO and President of GLAAD. She has led many national media brands to their biggest successes, most notably growing Real Simple into one of Time Inc.’s most respected and successful magazines. Her vision has transformed and energized leading media outlets including Vogue, InStyle, New York, and House & Garden. In 2011, Ellis co-authored a memoir with her wife, Kristen Ellis-Henderson, titled Times Two, Two Women in Love and the Happy Family They Made, released by Simon & Schuster. The autobiography chronicled their simultaneous pregnancies and road to motherhood.
Jonathan Higbee is the Associate Web Editor for Instinct Magazine, and he began his media career at the Los Angeles based LGBTQ magazine “Frontiers.” He assumed a national audience when he became the editor of Gay List Daily's National and NYC editions and by becoming a regular contributor to many of the web's most trafficked pop-culture sites, including Towleroad and AfterElton (now TheBacklot), shortly thereafter. In 2009, he joined Instinct Magazine and has put his heart and soul into the publication's online presence ever since.
Charlie Kerr is a senior at CUNY Brooklyn College, where she has served two-terms as the President of the College’s LGBTA (Lesbian, Gay Bisexual and Transgender Alliance), and she has been awarded The CUNY Vice-President’s Award for Excellence in Student Leadership and a spot on “The Brooklyn College Wall of Fame.” One might think those activities alone would keep her busy, but she’s also a filmmaker, a member of The Trevor Project’s Youth Advisory Council, and creator of Trans Across America, a map of health, housing, legal, and wellness resources for transgender people across the United States and Canada.
Kelvin Moon Loh recently starred in “Side Show” on Broadway as the Half Man/Half Woman in the critically acclaimed production directed by Academy Award winner Bill Condon. He will soon appear in Lincoln Center's production of “The King and I” and previously appeared in The Public Theater's production of “Here Lie's Love.” He also performed in the National Tour of “American Idiot” where he spoke openly about the shows importance to LGBTQ audiences, stating, “The characters in the show don’t want the idea of being ‘normal’ forced on them.”
The evening will be emceed by The Trevor Project's Dr. Jeffrey Fishberger, psychiatrist, on-call clinician for The Trevor Lifeline, and member of The Trevor Project's Board of Directors. Inspired by TED Talks, these presentations are sure to be educational, inspiring, and entertaining.
