Trans Day of Remembrance (TDoR) MARCH on Brooklyn Bridge

Join The Brooklyn Community Pride Center and our community partners as we walk from Brooklyn to Manhattan across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge to honor those who have lost their lives due to hate crimes against the transgender community. MAKE IT LOCAL! A great percentage of New York City's transgender and gender-nonconforming communities live in Brooklyn, and so we will honor our community by organizing in Brooklyn. We're tired of the continued invisibility of the transgender and gender-nonconforming communities and taking a stand against the ignorance and violence our community faces. WHEN: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2016 at 5:00 PM (march at 5:30) WHERE: Columbus Park North Plaza (in front of the US District Court Building), Brooklyn DIRECTIONS: 2, 3, 4, 5, R and get off at Court Square-Borough Hall; A, C, F and get off at Jay Street - MetroTech. After the successful march the participants will be invited to join the Gender Identity Project (GIP) at the The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in Manhattan (208 W 13th St) in reflecting on the lives of community members we have lost to oppression, stigma and violence. The event will feature inspirational speakers at the Community Speak-Out, festival of lights/moment of reflection and solemn prayer. The event will take place between 7 PM and 9 PM.
