Riot Chica is a queer/punk/riot grrrl party in Brooklyn that celebrates feminism and DIY culture. It focuses on sharing empowering underground music made by ladies & queers from the past & present.
This month we are back and it's our 1 year anniversary! Oh how time flies! What an awesome year it has been! We have worked with some super amazing bands & having Don Pedro as our home base has been nothing but a blessing. Looking forward to more years of DIY awesomeness.

RIOT CHICA FEMIFESTO
✪ Riot Chica exists because people need alternatives in the NYC queer underground.
✪ We want to challenge music standards and aesthetics from the mainstream that are driven by capitalism and consumerism.
✪ We don't believe in celebrity culture, fame/popularity contests or any of that bullshit. No one is better than you and you are not better than anyone. We believe everyone is special and unique.
✪ This party is not about the DJ or DJing, it is all about the music.
✪ We will not play music that offends women or queers.
✪ We will not play top 40 or music that you can hear in any other party, club, or bar.
✪ We are committed to playing underground music made by ladies and queers, especially current local artists/bands, but also empowering anti-establishment music from the past like riot grrrl, 90s queercore, and any other music that might have influenced this.
✪ We realize that people want to be heard through the music they make and should be inspired, encouraged, and empowered to do this with whatever resources they have.
✪ Riot Chica wants to be a platform for music you wouldn't hear otherwise. Music that might be coming straight out of someone's bedroom.
✪ We want to question and challenge the notion of cool as cultural currency and how it sometimes operates in oppressive ways.
✪ We want to be a welcoming space for misfits, queers, punks, dorks, geeks, the awkward, the shy, and/or all of the above.
✪ We strongly believe in DIY culture, social justice, self-love, and feminism
