The event will benefit HERO, a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization that helps newly diagnosed and people living with HIV/AIDS.

HIV Experience Resources Organization (HERO) proudly presents “Broadway and Ballet, The HERO Awards” honoring the Actors Fund HIV/AIDS Initiative; Tony Award Winner, Jerry Mitchell, and Ballet Star Stephen Hanna at 8pm on Sunday, October 19th at 42 West, 516 West 42nd Street. The event will benefit HERO, a 501 (c) (3) charitable organization that helps newly diagnosed and people living with HIV/AIDS.
The awards are given to those organizations and individuals who have gone above and beyond to help the HIV/AIDS community. The event will screen short tribute videos highlighting the accomplishments of the honorees and organizations, and feature many stellar performances by Broadway and the ballet world’s finest. LBGT advocate and communication consultant Jonathan D. Lovitz will emcee.
Talent participating in Broadway and Ballet include: Michael Leon Wooley (Little Shop of Horrors, American Buffalo, The Music Man, Five Guys Named Moe, Walt Disney's The Princess and the Frog), Stephen Hanna (On The Town, Billy Elliot), Michael Cusumano (All Shook Up, Chicago, American in Paris), Patrick Boyd (Wizard of Oz, Gypsy, Me and My Girl, Grease, Touch: A Love Story), Tobin Eason (The Metropolitan Opera, American Ballet Theatre), top 20 recording artist Kelly King, Sean Michael Murray (American Idiot), Sean Stewart (American Ballet Theatre), Alina Fay (American Ballet Theatre alumni), Marty Thomas (Wicked, The Secret Garden, Xanadu), Marissa Rosen (My Big Gay Italian Wedding), Russell Brown, and many surprise celebrity guests.
There will be one-of-a-kind dance performances including “Why Not Me” and “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” (only performed by two dance companies in the world) with performances by Alex Biegelson; Nimbus Dance Works, Project: Smith, and Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company, ZviDance, founding member of 10 Hairy Legs (Assistant Director), Lyner Dumortier; Julie Bour, The Bang Group, Freespace Dance, Nimbus Dance Works, Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company, and Zvi.
