RISE, MY LOVE

In celebration of LGBT Pride, the Cheah Chan Duo 'Rise, My Love', a recital of LGBT-themed art songs, solo piano pieces, and musical theatre songs featuring music and words by 21 LGBT composers and 11 poets/lyricists in 4 languages and spanning 3 centuries, on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 8:00pm at the Church of Saint Luke in the Fields, which is in the heart of Greenwich Village, NYC (487 Hudson Street, between Christopher and Barrow Streets). Featuring music by Samuel Barber, Chester Biscardi, John Cage, Noël Coward, David Del Tredici, Mohammed Fairouz, Drew Hemenger, Jennifer Higdon, Laura Kaminsky, John Kander, Gian Carlo Menotti, Meredith Monk, Francis Poulenc, Ned Rorem, Camille Saint-Saëns, Robert Savage, Dennis Tobenski, and others, with texts by Rafael Campo, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Wayne Koestenbaum, Rainer Maria Rilke, Gertrude Stein, and more.
