Jared R. Lopatin is thrilled to have his books upon Enigma's bookshelves! Born and raised in Philadelphia, Jared began crafting stories from the moment he could put plot together. This led him to pursue a double major in English and Theatre at Muhlenberg College. Determined to make it in the theatrical arts, he moved to New York City, but not before taking on nine months of regional theatre in a tiny town in Indiana. It was during this time that, due to a persistent dream, he picked up a notebook and began what would become his first novel, Rising Sign. He moved to NYC in 2005 and continued writing, finishing Rising Sign five years later. Over the next two years, Jared wrote the next two books, completing the trilogy in 2011. In the course of writing Ruling House and Returning Planet, Jared obtained a graduate degree in Deaf Education and began his current career as a full-time teacher and director at Lexington School for the Deaf. His most recent novel, Let's Play It By Ear, is a romantic comedy that explores the Deaf and hearing worlds. In addition to teaching and directing this year's production of You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown - yes, a Deaf musical! - he is currently working on an anti-bullying novel loosely based on Alice in Wonderland, slated to come out in 2014.
