Dirty Looks will host a reception and atmospheric installation of select videos which will screen throughout the evening. The afterparty, sponsored by the New School of Public Engagement, will follow the 6PM panel discussion at Fales, 'Nelson Sullivan: Vlogging the 80s' presented by Robert Coddington and featuring Michael Musto, Flloyd Heacock, Lady Kier Kirby, Paula Gately Tillman-Hoffberger and Joe E. Jeffries, which marks Fales acquisition of Sullivan's archive, including rare documentation of luminary figures like RuPaul, Sylvia Miles, Lady Miss Kier, Michael Musto, Michael Alig, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, The Lady Bunny, Jayne County, Vaginal Davis, Charles Atlas, Leigh Bowery, Holly Woodlawn, Quentin Crisp, Ethyl Eichelberger and many, many more.
In the early 1980s, Nelson Sullivan began using then-newly available portable video technology to document the highs and lows of downtown's world of invites, catfights, train wrecks and rising stars. The equipment was heavy and expensive, but night after night Sullivan lugged it along from SoHo to Coney Island and all points in-between -- from huge discos (like Limelight and Tunnel) to tiny dives (like the Pyramid) and private parties (where he circulated with Warhol-era superstars and freshly minted celebrities like RuPaul and Deee-Lite).
