World renowned for their joyful flamingo music, we are thrilled to announce that the Gipsy Kings are returning to the Beacon Theatre on Saturday, April 20 in New York City.
Since the 1987 release of the international hit single “Bamboleo,” from their self titled debut album, the Gipsy Kings have dominated the World Music charts and sold more than fourteen million albums worldwide – more than four million in the US alone. Their platinum compilation, The Best of the Gipsy Kings, was on the charts for more than a year. They have released nearly 20 albums, received fifteen Gold and Platinum records and traveled the globe, bringing the sound of South America’s rumba rhythm with flamenco guitars to worldwide audiences.
The Gipsy Kings formed in the south of France and is made up of two groups of brothers, the descendants of Spanish gypsy families: Nicolas and Andre Reyes, the sons of renowned flamenco artist Jose Reyes, and their cousins, Jacques, Maurice and Tonino Baliardo. Their vigorous guitar work and passionate vocals are trademarks of an indigenous musical tradition known as “rumba flamenca.”
Two PBS-TV specials (Tierra Gitana & Live in Concert) capture the excitement of the band’s live show and have contributed to the Gipsy Kings’ ongoing success story. Their unique flamingo music has been used in numerous motion pictures including “Fearless,” “The Big Lebowski” and most “Toy Story 3.” Join the Gipsy Kings on Saturday, April 20th when they return to Beacon Theatre in New York City.
