Daniel Nardicio Brings The Award-Winning Duo to Town Hall March 13
Concert to celebrate Minnelli's 67th Birthday
Nightlife impresario Daniel Nardicio, who the
Village Voice just voted "Best Gay Party Promoter," is bringing Liza Minnelli
and Alan Cumming to the Manhattan stage together for the first time when the two
perform live at Town Hall on Wednesday, March 13. This is a transfer of their
two sold-out shows in Fire Island's historic Ice Palace nightclub which the New
York Times called "the biggest cultural event on Fire Island this Summer." The
concert takes place a day after Minnelli's 67th birthday. Everyone who missed
out on the biggest installment of Nardicio's Fire Island Icon Series will see
why the crowd were on their feet after every song and chanting both Liza and
Alan's names.
Liza Minnelli and Alan Cumming have a lot in common. The two theatrical
powerhouses act, sing and are both are closely identified with the musical
"Cabaret." Liza famously won an Academy Award for the movie version and Alan
won a Tony Award for the acclaimed Broadway revival.
These incomparable stars will duet on familiar songs from "Cabaret" and Liza
will dip into her repertoire of signature songs known the world over. Alan will
perform his renditions of songs – from Annie Lennox to his own original songs.
These two old friends will also interact on stage together—sharing stories,
songs, and banter— of their adventures in life and show-business.
Nardicio says: "It had always surprised me that no producer had thought to put
these two long time friends on stage together- considering their consummate
performing skills, their history with "Cabaret" and their friendship. It's a
no-brainer. That's what people saw on the stage on Fire Island- two good friends
having fun. I dare say that this show is a celebration of friendship in
general."
And all under the musical direction of Emmy winning composer Lance Horne.
