Community Meeting & Potluck Picnic!

Let's talk about SALGA's future, then go have some fun! COMMUNITY MEETING Date: Sunday July 29th Time: 2:00pm - 4:00pm, Picnic after. Place: LGBT Center - Room 102 Come find out what we've been up to, share your thoughts,select new SALGA Board members, and then head out for the picnic! We would like to know your ideas and suggestions on what directions we should take, and how you can help! SALGA is a community organization and we need the community to participate in the future direction of SALGA. We want you to take leadership roles and help grow this organization. We have three board positions open, details are below. --------------------------------------- AND THEN... A SALGA Summer Potluck Picnic! It's been another amazing pride month with SALGA, and we think its time to eat, drink, and generally enjoy a glorious summer afternoon. We would also like to take this opportunity to publicly recognize key volunteers who have selflessly offered their time and services to make our events a success throughout Pride Month and the entire year! Come on over to SALGA's Summer Picnic at Christopher Street Pier after the Community Meeting. Bring a friend, bring a frisbee, bring something to eat, and stay as long as you like. Date: Sunday July 29 Time: 4:00 pm - stay as long as you would like Place: Christopher Street Piers; West 12 Street and West St What to bring: Food and/or drinks to share and blankets to sit on. Directions: Take the L Train to 8th Avenue Station; A, C, E to 14th Street Station or 1, 2, 3 to 14th Street Station. Walk down to West 12 Street and then walk west until you hit Christopher Street Piers Questions? Email navid@salganyc.org ___________________ Board Positions: Budgets and Planning Chair: Are you good with budgeting and record-keeping? If yes, come help keep SALGA financially sound, inform our planning for the future, and help with process management as we finalize 501c3 non-profit status. Communications Chair: Help us get word out about what we do! Unleash your creativity on SALGA's vibrant email list, website, and social media accounts. Internet or design enthusiasts, and/or fans of the written word-this is for you! Support Chair: SALGA's support group is one of our key services to the community. Help organize a monthly Support Group Meeting; get involved in the new South Asian Queer Helpline; plan and conduct semi-annual trainings for Support Group Facilitators; connect with other LGBT groups who offer Support Services; and maintain and expand SALGA's Support Resource Database. If you are interested in joining the Board, please email salganyc@hotmail.com expressing your interest by Friday, July 27th. In your email, please briefly explain what position you are interested in, why you are interested in joining the Board, and any relevant past experience. We highly encourage you to speak to existing Board members. Note that being a SALGA Board member is a significant time commitment (minimum 5-10 hours/week). If you are interested in joining, we strongly urge you to meet one-on-one with a current SALGA Board member prior to the community meeting.
