"When I began we only had Vinyl records, Tape decks, Technic 1200's and real record shops". 15 years later the dance music scene has progressed faster than any other music culture. New York was famous for its nightlife and was home to numerous mega nightclubs. Clubkids became loyal fans, as evidenced by the large crowds that attended his performances. As his fan base grew, his residency list grew as well. YB claimed the Resident DJ title at the world famous & infamous Tunnel Nightclub which packed in over 5500 attendees every weekend. He held the longest running residency spanning over 4 years, from 98 till it closed in 02'. YB has also claimed the resident title at The Limelight, Shelter, Club Love & dropped his signature hard beats at numerous other raves & clubs since the 90's. YB also performs at the world renowned Burning Man festival held yearly in Black Rock City, Nevada, which is known globally as one of the biggest art and music festivals to date, and spans 7 days with over 50,000 attendee's every year. He has shared DJ nights with the likes of The Scumfrog, DJ Dan, Elite Force and many more....Read More @ www.Yentalbeats.com >>>LEMAR SOULFLOWER<<< 1:00- 2:00 My involvement in the NY Music Scene dates back over a decade. Being a drummer since the age of 7, interest in all styles of music was not only natural, but a prerequisite. I started DJing in high school. Playing hip-hop, reggae and freestyle for friends and various functions seemed to logically segue into exploration of New York Citys club and early rave scene. Working as a promoter for the now infamous Limelight and rave clubs like NASA and Caffeine, I was introduced to and became enamored with a new take on DJing and adjusted my goals accordingly. My first higher profile gigs occurred and led to me being an in demand House and Club DJ till the present. Working with various agents and promoters allowed me to travel the country while pursuing my passion. Present: I evolve. Incorporating all styles of music into my repertoire I now play large clubs as well as lounge environments with ease. Was one of the first generation of DJs at the ground breaking, APT . Currently I have a residency @ ArrowBar on Tuesdays and play at various lounge and club nights throughout NYC. Even now, with a well established DJ, production and remix career that keeps Jason Jinx more than busy, you'll still see him out, taking in new music and working the dance floor just like he would back in the day as a teen. Back then in the late eighties / early nineties New York City was a melting pot of various clicks and scenes: industrial, techno, rave, hip-hop, house Kids from all over: Brooklyn, NYC, Queens, Long Island they were all getting down. Jinx was one of them, and in 1991 at 19 years old the beginning of his DJ career was a natural extension of that partying experience. Jinx' first DJ residency was for a night called NASA at the Shelter, NY. He also went on to residencies at the Tunnel, Limelight and The Loft. Early on Jinx uncovered the break-beat sound that was coming out of the UK, and while at NASA one of his two sets a night would be drum and bass - the other, house. Jinx was the only New York DJ spinning full drum and bass sets at the time and he soon gained the respect and support of UK labels and producers. Some of his first forays into production (released on Sm:)e Communications) were drum and bass tracks, as well as house. Although now when DJing, Jason's sets are purely house music and his productions are house too, his openness when it comes to new music speaks through those productions. Admitting he's 'not a purist' when it comes to sounds and equipment - for Jinx the important thing is to 'be innovative, use what's available, take the technology we have - computers, digital audio - and use it to the fullest, creatively.' That creativity extends beyond engineering, production and mixing - all of which Jinx does himself - he will also pick up the bass, guitar or keys to augment his work. Over 60 singles and remixes have come out of Jinx' studio for labels like Defected, Strictly Rhythm, Groove On, Moody, Subversive, Ovum, and King Street to name a few. Recently a huge dance floor buzz picked out the track 'Your First Time' on Fluential Records. And under the moniker Joystick, Jinx has made a lot of noise on the Yoshitoshi label with cuts like 'Go Insane', 'Spinnin Around', and the 'Chelate Ep', as well as his remixes of Eddie Amador's 'Rise', Mysterious People's 'Fly Away', and PQM's 'The Flying Song'. Creating tracks as a DJ crafts a set, Jinx plays with dynamics that build and build on the dance floor. It's a warm sound, but built around hard, supremely danceable beats - like 'When You Know You're There' on Subliminal Records, which has been making waves in clubs both sides of the Atlantic. Jinx describes his style as 'New School Old School' - employing new production techniques but 'trying to keep the feeling of the old school house I grew up on and loved - New York, vocal, piano-y house. Although he admits he still loves to 'bang out tracks' occasionally - for that certain special energy that can be captured with fewer hours in the studio - Jinx's focus now is on producing quality vocal house music - great dance floor records. The DJ spirit still thrives too, and he continues to be in demand across the US, Europe and Canada. Whether producing an original track, remixing someone else's or DJing to a packed floor, Jason Jinx has an instinctive feel for what is fun, and what the dance floor will respond to. It's that love for music - and for house music in particular that makes his productions work and keeps the faithful returning to the floor.Read More @ www.jasonjinx.com >>>ERICA RHONE <<<11:00 - 12:00 Erica Rhone developed her love for dance music the first time she stepped foot into NYCs Limelight in early 2000. Funk was captivated by the sound and loved dancing, but wanted more. In 1997, he bought his first pair of decks. After learning the basics of a good party in the hectic DC scene of the 90s, Funk travelled to NorCal to produce parties in both Santa Cruz and San Fransisco, playing with international names like Forest Green and Joey Mazola. Ever hungry for new experience in 2001, he moved overseas to Sweden to expand his knowledge of euro-sleaze disco and funky techno. Travelling gigs have included Miama, Las Vegas, Fire Island and Burning Man playing for art cars and Bubbles & Bass. Alex Funk is not your average club DJ. Listening to 80s and 90s pop was a backdrop to Funk's own exploration of punk, industrial, and DC garage house. His sound respresents a refreshing change from the average nightclub DJ offerings; bringing together the sound of the underground, the pop vocals you love, and the quick-cut style of a european techno DJ. There are no rules. There are no playlists. This is Alex Funk working the party. Read more @ www.getfunk.com >>> TERREYL KIRTON <<< 2:00-4:00 With Terreyle anything can happen. Since those early days, he's been around the block, sharpened his skills, and evolved into the musical force he is today. Now, at 25, he's played across America at some of the most underground and premiere venues. His sound undulates with funky deep and soulful vibes drawing inspiration from all aspects of his life. From his first induction into the scene as a 15 year old kid snuck into clubs in Greece and DC, to dusty discovered vinyl collections, through deep playa sunrise sets.
