Sunday night parties in the basement ballroom of The Maritime
This longstanding party is one of the most popular places to be on Sunday nights (the only gay night). Enjoy the amazing arcitecture of the ballroom (you've got to see it) and come for the music, the pretty boys and lots of people. In the summer the party can move upstairs to the outdoor lounge.
Im nt frm here.. Lived in FL for a while. Had a temporary ID but its expired so was showing tht im 20..(im 21) the guys at the door where assholes! Probably wont be goin there again.
The previous reviews are right the drinks are way to expensive! It's NY so yes cocktails can run for $15, but not for a small plastic glass of a screwdriver. I went to the club at 2:00 AM (they are open till 4), and it was jam packed. They were counting the people going in and out it was so crowded. It was so crowded you really couldn't get on the dance floor or walk around. I only saw one go-go boy which suprised me. After reading the reviews I thought it was going to be awesome, but actually pretty lame.
I ran into Amanda LePore at HIRO so, I guess it can't be that bad of a place. Beautiful men were to the left, right and in front of me! The music is house with no lyrics, just beats and sounds. For me, it's the perfect place to be when I am TOTALLY SHIT FACE and don't give much of a care where I am. All and all, it was a cool venue and hot men!!!
I have been to Hiro twice and had a great time each time. But, I forgot how late it started the second time and arrived around 11:30. It was a very mixed and sparse crowd. I watched the go go boys warm up and by 12:30 the crowd was coming in. I blended into a very friendly group from Australia and we danced the rest of the night. If you have somewhere else to hang first and are bold enough to jump right in, it is a great time.
