What we say
A cozy bar in the Theatre District.
There are drink specials daily and a happy hour that lasts until 10pm. The last Tuesday of the month features a drag performance known as The Ginger Show. Located in the Theatre District, this can be a great place to catch a post-performance drink (or a last-minute date?)

The ninth Ave Saloon is a great friendly place in the heart of NYC's theater district "HELLS KITCHEN". Over on ninth Ave the bar gets all ages and types. From very vanilla to hard core leather to the bears. Stop by and have a beer at one of the lowest priced bars in NYC

This might be a different experience on weekends, but I've tried it weeknights and found it to be pretty uninteresting. What's with the bartenders? They seem to have some aversion to waiting on customers and have very bland personalities, if they have one at all. Glad to hear one of the reviewers here thought one of them was a great lay. They'd put me to sleep long before we got to bed! I wouldn't be surprised if most of them are "straight." Don't bother making a special trip for this dump.

In terms of gay bars in Hells Kitchen this one is totally no frills which is part of it's charm. Cheap drinks and a great jukebox. Paul the bartender was friendly and a great lay. Can't wait to see him again...;)

Years ago when this first opened I went in and didn't like it. Thought I'd give it another try and wish I hadn't. The few customers looked as if they were about to cry in their beer. The three bartenders all ignored me for nearly ten minutes until I thought I'd have to set myself on fire to get waited on. I finally flagged one down and he told me he was off-duty! Another one made me a drink but never apologized for the long wait. Visited this on a Wednesday night around 8 PM. You might have a different experience at another day and time but I found it just dismal. Unpretentious decor.

What a delight to walk into the Ninth Avenue Saloon, like going back in time. In the midst of trendy Hells Kitchen sits this wonderful, warmly welcoming old fashioned bar. Tavern. Gin mill. Saloon. The long bar itself is something from another era, beautiful mahogany, lovely mirrored glass behind the very well stocked bar. There are weekly Leather events, very popular indeed. Great crowds at night, ranging across the entire Gay spectrum. And unlike far too many Gay bars in NYC, Ninth Ave. Saloon opens at noon. A guy can amble in and grab a beer that early, what more can you ask?
So, what do you say?
