Love this place. Bartended here in the early 90's
Country, Denim, Leather Hot Masculine Crowd,... will be sorry to see it go...
Rawhide Bar and Fun
Rawhide, 212 8th Ave., at W. 21st Street. I had visited this bar years ago…and I have to say, it is better than ever before. A cool antique motorcycle hangs from ceiling in the rear, and the smell of leather and beer as you walk in the door is absolutely intoxicating. There was a mixed-age, masculine crowd and HOT bartenders. There were 2 strippers that knew how to move, and a third not so much, but still nice eye candy. Great drink prices, and a great bar even if it is somewhat tiny. 5 WOOFS
Small bar
We descended on NYC, Dec. 16, 2011 (Friday). Found this place easy around midnight. Light crowd. Good drinks. Nice prices. Pretty cruisy. Motorcycle/light over the pool table was cool! Gogo was okay. I didn;t see any real leather other than the winter coats and some belts. Too many Honda Civics parked in front. (JK)... but we were disappointed that this is called a leather/Levi bar. Almost everyone was wearing Levis (or similar) no leather. We had one drink and left. Oh, and the music was way too low (volume) so it seemed like a glorified Happy Hour. Just sayin.
A GENUINE CLASSIC PLACE
I am surprised to see so much negativity but hey, it's New Yawk! I always stop here when I am in the area. House drinks are good, decent music. The crowd is very mixed, I've never had a problem with the barkeeps. Yes, it is dark, it's a leather bar, hunney, but all types show, and it can get very cruisey at times. I advise getting there after 10 PM. Ciao!
